Mother Finds Inspiration in Son with Rare Birth Defect: A Story of Unconditional Love
Lacey Buchanan, a mother from midstate, has been sharing her inspiring story of raising her six-year-old son, Christian, who was born with a rare facial cleft that left him blind at birth.
While it was initially challenging for Buchanan to accept the reality of her son’s birth defect, she found solace in prayer and support from her husband and loved ones.
They choose to focus on the joy of their situation and find ways to make the most of it, such as through Christian’s karate classes. Despite the rare nature of Christian’s condition, Buchanan has been traveling around the country to share her story and inspire others with her love for her son.
She recently spoke at a church on Mother’s Day and was named mother of the year by the Tennessee Justice Center. Christian also has aspirations of his own and hopes to become a radio host when he grows up.
The bond between mother and son is unbreakable, and Buchanan feels blessed to be the one Christian calls “mama”.
