Taa Toh Beach & Bay is one of the less known scenic spots on the south end of Koh Tao island in Thailand.

This beach is a great place to unwind and pull up a sunbed or sip a drink, and since it’s facing west it makes a great sunset beach too.

What To Do At Taa Toh Bay

Taa Toh Beach is great for sunbathing, snorkeling, and kayaking. There’s even a couple of volleyball nets set up.

The beach here looks really similar to the popular Freedom Beach, but smaller and with less people. Actually, there’s a small boardwalk connecting Taa Toh and Freedom Beach, so you can walk back and forth between the two easily.

Taa Toh is also a popular spot for kayaking and snorkeling, and you could use it as a good base for kayaking to other nearby bays and beaches like Chalok Baan Kao Bay, Freedom Beach, and even Shark Bay.

Entrance Fees

FREE as of 2020. There’s no fee to visit Taa Toh Bay.

If you continue on to Freedom Beach you may be asked to pay 100 baht (~$3 USD).

How To Get There

Taa Toh is located on the south end of Koh Tao island.

It’s just a 15 minute drive from the main pier and tourist areas at Sairee Beach, and many places will rent you a scooter for 150 Baht ($5 USD) to explore the island all day.

Even better, our hotel in south Koh Tao was close enough to walk there!

Where We Stayed

We stayed at a hotel called Aukotan Place in south Koh Tao. The price was $23 USD for a big double room with cold A/C, hot shower, and good WiFi.

This hotel includes free buffet breakfast even though it’s not mentioned on Booking.com. They also give a free daily transfer to and from the pier, and Sairee Beach, which was super handy, and they have scooter rentals for a good price.

The location of the hotel was perfect. It’s a 15 minute walk from Freedom Beach, Shark Bay, and John Suwan Viewpoint.

Prices may fluctuate from time to time, so just keep an eye out for a good deal.
